Rain or Shine... Carolina BalloonFest is open October 18-20, 2019!
Hot Air Balloon Flights are scheduled twice daily; early morning & late afternoon. All ballooning activities including static display, tethered rides and balloon flights are weather-dependent. The decision to inflate hot air balloons is made just prior to the scheduled ballooning activity. Please note that due to the popularity of our festival, Saturday is our most popular festival day and the admissions booths will close when we reach maximum capacity. This is a decision out of our control and made by local law enforcement. Tickets are non-refundable. National Balloon Rally Charities donates a portion of our festival proceeds to other local nonprofits and surrounding community agencies.

Bring the family and discover the beauty of hot air balloons. Enjoy live entertainment, NC wine & craft beer, great festival food, kid's fun zone with inflatables and various activities throughout the day. Hot Air Balloon Flights are scheduled twice daily; early morning and late afternoon.

Since 1979, Walhalla, South Carolina has celebrated its German heritage by welcoming residents and visitors alike to the annual Walhalla Oktoberfest for a weekend filled with fun, food and fireworks!

Join us on the third Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October at Sertoma Field to enjoy authentic German fare of bratwurst & sauerkraut, funnel cakes, and Apple Strudel along with some more American treats of barbecue, blossoming onions, and boiled peanuts.

Dance a polka, waltz or the “Chicken Dance” while listening to The Little German Band. Browse through the numerous vendor booths for arts, crafts, baked goods and other treats and get a jump on your Christmas shopping since there’ll be only eight weeks to go!

For the kids there is a carnival that will provide hours of fun, along with a “Kinderhaus” for face-painting and crafts. And for the children of all ages, the fantastic fireworks display on Saturday will be the perfect way to conclude the night.

The annual liver mush festival has grown significantly over the past 29 years. The event was started by Mack’s Liver Mush in 1985, now run by Ron McKee’s father. It has taken many different approaches and even changed locations several times before landing in Uptown Shelby on the 3rd weekend in October. Now the official North Carolina Fall Liver Mush Festival, this event has grown in popularity and attendance. Why, because every year there is more! More music, more mush and more to do.

Who wouldn’t love a nice piece of jewelry or pottery under the Christmas tree? There are inflatable rides, live music, and dance teams… Admission tickets can be purchased online at WoollyWorm.com so there is no need to stand in line as there is a limited number of races, it is important to register to race your worm as soon as you arrive at the festival! Remember, the winning Woolly Worm on Saturday earns the esteemed honor of predicting the High Country's winter weather and receives a huge pot of $$$ - $1000 to be exact! If you can’t make it to the festival on Saturday - don't worry - we begin the fun again on Sunday from 9am until 4pm. The fun starts Saturday morning at 9am and the woolly worm waces begin shortly after with Mr. Woolly Worm and Merryweather leading the fun! On Sunday at 1:00 is the Corporate Woolly Worm Wace. Taylorsville, Apple Festival - NC

The streets of Taylorsville fill to overflowing for the Annual Taylorsville Apple Festival which draws an estimated 35,000 attendees and hosts over 400 booths including rides. The festival provides a fantastic assortment of entertainment, food and vendors.

The festival boasts 3 entertainment stages: The Main Stage on the courthouse lawn, the Gospel Stage at the west end of the festival, and the Childrens’ Stage on the east end of the festival. The Kid’s Korner is the biggest draw for our younger attendees.

The Kid’s Korner has hosted in the past, pony rides, mechanical bucking bull rides, pitching booths, numerous professional inflatables, puppet shows, music and much more.

Food vendors surround the courthouse emitting some of the most wonderful smells and best tasting food you’ll find in the Carolinas. One can find, chopped barbeque, eggrolls, hamburgers and hotdogs, barbeque chicken, Italian sausages, and the list goes on.

Children’s Day Festival - Mount Pleasant, SC

Old and new traditions delight at the Annual Town of Mount Pleasant Children’s Day Festival presented by Publix! East Cooper schools will host carnival games centered on the event’s theme. Families will enjoy carnival rides, giant inflatable slides, live entertainment, face painting and many other activities!  Admission and all activities are free. Free parking is available at Cario Middle School and Charles Pinckney/Laurel Hill – shuttles run all day or simply use the cut-through and enjoy a nice short walk! South Carolina Pelion Peanut Party

Farmers in Pelion, a mere 20 miles or so from Columbia, have been producing and harvesting peanuts for years. It has long been an autumn tradition for the townspeople to gather for the annual boiling of the peanuts. Today, members of the Pelion Ruritan Club continue the tradition at the annual Pelion Peanut Party. The Ruritans use a secret recipe for boiling the peanuts; however, they are more than happy to share the final product with festival-goers. This year’s festival features the Princess Pageant, craft show, parade, car show, military exhibits, peanut butter & jelly sandwich eating contest, frozen T-shirt contest, fabulous festival food, and amusement rides for all.

Chitlin Strut

Thousands are drawn to this community each Saturday after Thanksgiving to celebrate this unusual food item that has been a southern tradition for over 100 years. Activities also include a parade, hawg-calling and strut contests, food and craft vendors, beauty pageant, carnival rides, and a Chitlin Strut Idol Contest.

Still wonder what's a chitlin'? Chitlin's, a contraction of the word chitterlings, are pig intestines and the people of Salley fry them by the ton during the Chitlin' Strut.

South Carolina Sweet Potato Festival

The longest-running festival in Darlington County, the South Carolina Sweet Potato Festival now attracts audiences of more 27,000 people. The daylong extravaganza includes children's games, crafts, music, live entertainment, a car show and plenty of food, including sweet potato pie! Folks have been packing the festival for a day of family fun since 1983. The event honors the vital role sweet potatoes play in the economy of the Pee Dee.

Sponsored by the Pilot Club of Darlington. Admission is free. Held the second Saturday in October each year on the Public Square in downtown Darlington.

BLOWING ROCK ART IN THE PARK - BLOWING ROCK, NC

Parking: Free parking downtown on the street and in the parking decks on Wallingford St. and at BRAHM.  Free trolley to and from parking areas at Tanger Outlets and Food Lion, all day, looping every 20 minutes.

Art in the Park was created in 1962 by a handful of area artists and craftspeople to showcase local talent. Today, Art in the Park is host to 90 artisans at each show. Some of the best local and regional artists and craftspeople showcase their handcrafted jewelry, pottery, fiber, glass, photography, painting and more.

Art in the Park’s high standards and professional jury attract artisans from all over the Southeast to exhibit in a series of six shows, May through October. The quality of work exhibited draws thousands to the area each month.

Art in the Park is planned and administered by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber takes pride in working to support and showcase top talent over a variety of mediums at each show. Brushy Mountain Apple Festival - North Wilkesboro, NC

The Annual Brushy Mountain Apple Festival is one of the largest one-day arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast. The Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club owns, operates, and organizes the event each year. The Brushy Mountain Apple Festival is not just this club's largest fundraiser, but has become one of Wilkes County's biggest fundraisers. Over 100 civic, church and other non-profit organizations participate in the festival. For many of them, the festival has become the biggest fundraiser of the year. Over 160,000 people visit this festival during the day and it's FREE.

The streets of downtown North Wilkesboro, NC are filled with over 425 arts and crafts, 100 food concessions, 4 different music stages consisting of Blue Grass, Country, Folk, Gospel, and Appalachian Heritage. Cloggers, folk dancers, rope skippers, and square dancers provide additional entertainment venues for festival goers. Appalachian Heritage crafts are highlighted such as woodcarving, chair making, soap making, pottery throwing, and quilting. When walking through the streets of the festival observing and buying lots of the arts and crafts, Appalachian dulcimers can be heard while the smells of the variety of foods are enticing everyone's appetites. Let us not forget the apples, apples, and apples. Local apple growers set up throughout the festival selling their apples, apple cider, and dried apples. After all, this festival also pays tribute to the fruit grown and harvested each fall by apple orchardists from Northwestern North Carolina.

So come join the Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club in the Annual Brushy Mountain Apple Festival this year in downtown North Wilkesboro, NC from 8 AM to 5 PM. The Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club Information Booth located at the intersection of Main and 9th Street will have copies of the Souvenir Program and Guide filled with schedules of music, dancing, locations of exhibitors, food concessions, apple recipes, stories and tales about the community and more.

Pre-festival activities begin with "Apple Jam" at 6:00 PM on Friday night, with "live entertainment" at the Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club's Brushy Mountain Apple Festival Park. Beaufort Shrimp Festival

Beaufort's Shrimp Festival is a favorite event that celebrates Lowcountry cuisine and incorporates fun activities for all ages. Local restaurants offer samples of Lowcountry dishes featuring shrimp. Prizes are awarded for "best recipe" and "most creative recipe" honors. Highlights of the event include: Friday evening concert in the park featuring live entertainment and yummy shrimp with lighted shrimp boats providing the backdrop for the event. Saturday's festivities begin with a 5k Bridge Run/Walk over Woods Memorial Bridge. Restaurants prepare delicious shrimp specialties to the delight of the large crowds that attend the event each year. Saturday's events also include, arts & crafts, live entertainment, a special race for kids (the "Popcorn Shrimp Race"), food and drinks. In a nutshell: Enjoy Lowcountry traditions and cuisine and dance under the stars.

Carolina in the Fall - Wilkesboro, NC

On September 20th and 21st, in historic downtown Wilkesboro, the Kruger Brothers will host some of North Carolina’s best folk/ roots music bands during the Award Winning Fourth Annual Carolina in the Fall™ Music and Food Festival. They will be joined by a variety of bands from around the world that tip their hats to the rich musical history of Wilkes, the Heart of American Folk Music™.

In its fifth year, Carolina in the Fall™ has become an annual pilgrimage of bluegrass and folk music lovers. In addition to great music, those that attend will be treated to some of North Carolina’s best food as each year trucks from the region will bring their secret recipes to feed the masses and vie for the Carolina in the Fall™ Food Truck Championship trophy. Additionally, local vineyards and regional craft breweries will be onsite to provide a taste of the region’s best beverages.

As a lifestyle festival, CITF offers more than just music and food. Other events include the Bobby Martin Songwriting Competition, and The Chad Lovette Memorial Trail Run and Ride in support of the American Cancer Society . About This Festival

Sponsored and coordinated by The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce, the team lovingly refers to this year’s event as the Second-THIRD-ANNUAL HARMON FIELD MUSIC FESTIVAL. On Saturday, September 14 (12:00 noon to 8:00 pm), five great bands all headline the event Rich Nelson Band, Nobody’s Fault, Citizen Mojo, Lecretia w/Thunder Road, Shane Pruitt and Gregory Hodges. The music offerings are a blend of Country, Rock and Blues.

Bring your dancing shoes, a pop-up chair and a great attitude to enjoy Harmon Field at its very best! The music festival is going to be a BLAST! An assortment of food trucks will be on site. Beer and wine will also be available for purchase. A car show and craft/vendor market will also be available for perusing during the day. 

Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online at CarolinaFoothillsChamber.com. Tickets are also available at the Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce office, One of the goals was to make this event affordable for attendees. Starting at 12:00 noon and running until 8:00 pm – it runs about a $1 an hour! Tickets are $8. In advance and $10. at the gate. Children 12 and under are free.

The Great Trent River Raft Race is back AGAIN!  In the 70’s and early 80’s there was an event…an event that drew thousands to the shore of the Trent River to watch a spectacle like no other.  Hundreds of participants built homemade rafts and raced in The Great Trent River Raft Race.

A couple of decades later the race is back!

June 2018 saw the successful return of the race to New Bern NC – Folks from all over the State grabbed their paddle boards, jumped on their kayaks, built paddle and pedal rafts and got together with friends for a fantastic day of fun on the water!  The great news is…we’re back – AGAIN for 2019! UNDER THE OAKS ARTS FESTIVAL - COROLLA, NC

The Under the Oaks Art Festival is a two day outdoor art show with a variety of Fine and Wildlife artists on the sweeping waterfront grounds of Historic Corolla Park at Whalehead.  One hundred year old Live Oaks, open green lawns and casual breezes from the Currituck Sound make for a perfect location. This festival features the unique talents of over 50 quality artists with a wide variety of media plus local food concessions, and a silent art auction that benefits Whalehead. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Whalehead was the 1920s residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Collings Knight, Jr., a 21,000-square-foot “mansion by the sea”. OUTER BANKS BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL - MANTEO, NC

CARTHAGE BUGGY FESTIVAL - CARTHAGE, NC

Started in 1989, the Carthage Buggy Festival is a celebration of the rich history of Carthage, North Carolina. The Buggy Festival is held each year to commemorate the famous Tyson and Jones Buggy Factory that, from the mid-1800's to the 1920's, produced the carriages that were essential to life in rural North Carolina. On Saturday, May 11, 2019, the 31st Annual Carthage Buggy Festival will be held in Carthage, located eight miles north of Pinehurst in the Sandhills region of North Carolina, and it promises to be the biggest and best yet. With an annual attendance of approximately 20,000, the Buggy Festival has grown into one of the biggest and best known festivals in the region.
